Fred Velasquez, is an educator with many years of association with Chaw Se and the California Native American Community. A resident in this region for nearly 40 years and self described as a Traditional Native American Cultural Preservationist since 1983 he has been interpreting the uses of the resources the land provided to California’s Pre- Contact Native American tribal groups mainly in the public schools, State Parks and Forest Service Facilities. On November 21st He will give a brief history of the Chaw Se State Park and provide an overview of the significance of this place to the native American inhabitants. This will be in the form of a lecture demonstration that will include many artifacts from the pre contact period, and descriptions and examples of the flora and fauna that filled the day to day needs of the people of Chaw se.
